The quiet child
Karen wanted to do the things that other kids do but instead she sat quietly when introduced to other children. She didn’t mix well and, although at home she was chatty and confident, outside she was quiet and shy.
" Excellent! The Dojo kids Ju Jitsu Classes, teach children self defence and give them the skills they need to achieve in whatever they do..."
From Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, to Team-building events & our Junior Leader Programme, to GCSE P.E. - our ju-jitsu classes play a part in them all!
These are just some examples of children whose parents have thanked us for how our training has improved not only their physical and mental ability, but their confidence and self-esteem too.
Self discipline and respect for themselves and others are also by-products of learning ju-jitsu at the Dojo...
that’s why parents love it!

Clare couldn’t catch a ball if her life depended on it, when she ran her legs just seemed to go everywhere, her parents who were both into sport just couldn’t understand why she hadn’t inherited their co- ordination and love of sport.
Michael was one of those kids who could never sit at pace, always getting into trouble and although he had a good heart, he was hard work for his parents and teachers alike. His mind was all over the place and he couldn’t focus on anything for long.
These are just three examples of children who I have trained over the last 25 years of coaching and by no means are they rare.
Your child may struggle with their weight, co ordination or confidence but they are not alone. Many children come through the door with the same issues and martial arts is a fantastic way you can help them take more exercise, learn to focus or interact with others. But it is up to you, the parent, to take the first step and get them down to the class and let them have a go for themselves.
The dojo gives everyone the opportunity to try it out. Your first class is free and we will take you through the basics at a pace that is right for you. All the coaches are there to help and the atmosphere is always friendly.
Your child may be the brightest in the room but if they can’t get up in front of a group and say what they need to - their intelligence will go unnoticed. It is of the utmost importance that you guide your child in the right direction and give them the skills to be more confident in themselves.
